You Gave the Gift of Life. Let Us Support Yours.

Living organ donors often face unexpected financial hardship during and after donation. The American Living Organ Donor Fund is here to help — covering lost wages, travel, lodging, and non-medical donation-related costs.

Living donors save lives. They shouldn’t have to pay for it.

Donation-related expenses — lost income, travel, childcare, medical co-pays — can create real financial stress for families who have already given so much. ALODF exists to remove that barrier. However, we cannot cover medical expenses.

How the Assistance Program Works

Who Can Apply?

Our assistance is for living organ donors and their families. You may be eligible if you have donated — or are scheduled to donate — a kidney, partial liver, lung lobe, or other living donation at a U.S. transplant center, and you are facing financial hardship related to your donation. Not sure if you qualify? Apply anyway — we review every case individually, and there is no cost or obligation.

Types of assistance include lost wages during surgery and recovery; travel and lodging to the transplant center; childcare during recovery; nurse assistance, and other types of donation-related expenses. Family members caring for the donor may also be eligible for certain types of support.
